Dear Johannes,

Respectfully, I am finding all kinds of anomalies in linked parts, and checking automatic update in both the template from which I am working and in the default file does not cure them. Perhaps there is something else I have done incorrectly. There are still MM rests that need to be created in each part, missing staff styles that have been clearly entered in the score (and show up correctly there), an errant staff style in a piano part that is not in the score, and no way I can find to allow optimization of piano parts when I only need one staff for slashes and chord symbols in some systems. (I did check Group and Staff Attributes to see if they were correctly set.)

I also cannot figure out why the MM rests and Staff Styles appear at the beginning of each new part view for a number of measures but do not continue later on in the part. I have not identified the spot where they are lost.

Those are the problems I can think of at the moment, as I struggle to get a handle on how to work in this new way. So far, it is not working well for me, but I see its advantages in many circumstances, so I continue to try.

Chuck

Same problem in newly created parts - from a new 2007 score.

Only if the automatic update option was not checked in your template/default file. Make sure you open the default file, check that option, and resave it as default file.
