Dean,

You really need to remember to provide context for your questions -- for instance, in this case, before anyone can answer your question, we need to know whether you are using Finale's SoftSynth, GPO Finale Edition, GPO Full, or some other soundfont or instrument set.

Assuming you are using GPO Finale Edition, there is no muted trumpet including in this instrument set. This is one of the instruments you get when you upgrade to GPO Full.

Dean,

I don't know how this works with the Finale's included GPO samples, but with the Garritan Big Band files, you simply load in a KS (Key Switch) trumpet sample on the staff in question and Finale "reads" the Str. Mute expression and changes the sound. (It also changes back to normal on seeing "Open") I suspect that, if Finale says you can do this, you can find a similar sample in their library.

So, I"m writing a band piece. I want the trp. to playback with the sound of a straight mute. Es possible? I've read a bunch in the manual, but can't seem to come up with an answer. I'm in MacFin07. I think they advertised that it could be done.
