Isn't the only thing Lilypond has to offer its particular music spacing algorithm? I'm not terribly impressed with the results, myself, but without a UI, it's not really got much going for it, except perhaps it's ability to be scripted. I've considered something like it for a web project that would create incipits on the fly. I just don't like the look of its scores at all. Maybe it's the font. I dunno. -- David W.
