That's a ridiculous point of comparison.

In the first place, the MS Office programs are not integrated -- they 
are bundled. Yes, they can share data, but they do that by hosting 
embedded versions of the other apps, which are different kinds of 
data (a spreadsheet is not a word processing document, etc.).

It seems to me that Sibelius is on track for something exactly like 
MS Office, bundling the notation package with a sequencer/audio 
editing package. Whether the latter capabilities will be integrated 
into the Sibelius UI is a question that is unresolved, but I doubt 
that's what they will start out with.

It has always seemed to me that Finale's shortcomings as sequencer 
could be addressed with a very small number of enhancements -- it 
doesn't need everything a full-fledged sequencer offers, just 
improvements to the kinds of tools that are needed to convert the 
notation into a reasonable sound file.
