I have had many of the same dealings with garritan as Chuck has had, though perhaps not as extensively. In addition to being a working euphonium player (to the extent that they work) I am also a professor of Business Administration. I hold Garritan's enterprise up in my classes as examples of a well-designed business model, how to do well by doing good, how to create buzz, and how to build a successful online community. I don't resent the fact that he makes money. He took risks, the risks paid off, and he deserves every penny. He's done a tremendous service to students of music everywhere.
