Thanks everyone for your help.

Yes I'm using Ansgar Krause's Font. As you said your email using lyrics
means that a figured symbol can only be over (or under) a note. Text boxes
are relatively quick especially since your Mass Edit suggestion I just paste
them in click in the box and change the figure and drag exactly where I want
them.

Yes, no figured bass coming from Sibelius was a bit of shock.. the figured
bass feature in Sibelius is only another lyric/text tool that either jumps
to the next note or beat in bar.

new chord libraries, and if there is a good tutorial on this, I have yet to
find it. More daunting, I don't know of anyone who has been happy with the

Intuitively, it seems to me that the chord tool is probably the way to go,
but I suspect those most knowledgeable about the chord tool have are least
interested in figured bass, and those most interested in figured bass are
perhaps among the least interested in the chord tool. One of the reasons in
favor of my using the chord tool, is that the chord tool will support
playback while text blocks do not. While articulation and expression tools
also affect playback,

| If you are talking baroque figured bass, with special symbols like
| crossed out numbers etc, forget the chord tool, you would regret it. I
| have tried this years ago, but it is a complete nightmare.
|
| I have since only used lyrics, with a special font, not unlike Ansgar
| Krause's Finale Figured Bass, but optimized in such a way that it can be
| used left alligned, allowing to enter things like
|
| 6 5
| 4 3

| under one note using hard spaces.
|
| Your best bet in my opinion is to either follow Ansgar's instructions
| and use his font, or design your own (in a font editor).

| Write to MM and request more fields, like I have several times. This
| would also allow an easier integration of house styles in Finale.
