Couple of things I don't know here, that may also be considerations. I
don't know what the difference in file size would be between the file
with embedded graphics, on the one hand, and the file with the graphics
redone as shapes, on the other. I also don't know how well the
graphics, whether embedded, or merely linked, will be handled if it is
deemed desireable to export the file to another format such as Music
XML, so even if Vivian does embed the graphics, I would suggest holding
on to the origianal Tif versions as well.
