"Save as Audio" uses the currently configured playback settings. If "Play Finale Through Native Instruments AU/VST" is checked, then the AU/VST instruments are used when you select Save as Audio.

This is easy to verify -- first off, when using AU/VST instruments, you don't have the option to save as MP3, only WAV or AIFF. Second, when using AU/VST instruments, the Finale file actually plays back and the audio file is based on the real-time recording of Finale playback. (When using SoftSynth instruments, Finale the file does not play back when saving as audio.)

Of course, you must actually load the GPO instruments via the Setup Wizard or the Native Instruments AU/VST Setup dialog box. If you're using Garritan Studio, Finale's Save As Audio command won't work.

Use the GPO Studio "Record" function. The Finale "save special" does not record GPO.

Yes, it does. It has since Finale 2006a.

How do I get it to do that on my computer, pray tell? When I use "save special" I only get soft synth sounds. I'm using FinWin 2006c and 2007. Again, I'm using full GPO, not the Finale reduced GPO.
