What site are you talking about? I know you were originally talking about signing yourself up for something. Dennis mentioned BugMeNot as a service that does something similar -- when a site has content that requires free registration, and when you don't feel like giving out your email address or creating a temp one, you can use BugMeNot to find a pre-registered login.

Look, try it yourself. Go to http://bugmenot.com and type nytimes.com into the search box. You'll get a bunch of logins that you should be able to use to access the NYT site. All the Firefox extension does is automate this.
