If I were using Eudora, I'd set it to delete attachments when the message was deleted. But I always save any attachments that I want out to the file system as soon as I see one that I need (my email client does not decode them until I tell it to). Maybe you're not using Eudora, but I'd expect any mail client that automatically saves the attachments to a specific folder would provide a similar bit of functionality.

Since you were replying to me: I don't use Eudora, and I don't have an attachments folder. Attachments just stay with their emails.

In fact I am a very disorganized person, and that also refers to my emails. My inbox currently holds almost 5000 mails.
