Oh no! Sorry for the misunderstanding. I wasn't implying that ALL community music was 100% volunteer, but pointing out that in some cases--many cases, actually--it is. Around here it's the norm. I suspect that any possible combination exists somewhere, even though IN THEORY union musicians aren't supposed to play with non-union.
