Hi Richard,
I should have known that you'd be the one that could help me since you
help a lot on this great list. Both of your sound fonts would work real good
for me. Didn't know how or where to install the Milburn-normal.SF2 font. I'd
like to be able to use it in any program I have on my computer of course.
How much do you charge for the font? How much for the 32MB font? Can you
advise me on how to install it or them in the right place on my computer? I
have winfinale 2006b on a winXP computer with an Audigy sound card.
Thanks so much for your help.
George

You will not find a good guitar sound in collections. After long search I
finally gave up and made my own soundfont. You can download it at:
http://www.yatesguitar.com/misc/Milburn-normal.SF2 (4.7MB)
Note that this only has 'normal' tone. The complete soundfont (32MB) has
other patches for staccato, ponticello, tasto, gliss, vibrato, etc. Demos
using the complete font can be heard at:
http://www.yatesguitar.com/misc/Arabe-Demo.mp3 (a very cheesy
interpretation of Capricho Arabe to show off the font).
http://www.yatesguitar.com/misc/Colloquio.mp3 (a more restrained and
convincing example using Angelo Gilardino's Colloquio)
http://www.yatesguitar.com/misc/01-Pastorale-V-G-F.mp3 (Debussy trio
arranged for Flute, Viola, and Guitar (replacing harp) - The flute and
viola
are soundfonts also.)
http://www.yatesguitar.com/misc/02-Interlude-V-G-F.mp3
http://www.yatesguitar.com/misc/03-Final-V-G-F.mp3
Let me know what you think.

Subject: [Finale] Getting a good guitar sound
I want to notate a song in Finale, save it as a midi that has
a good guitar sound. All of the different programs I've tried
to import the midi file to such as Finale 2006b, PowerTracks
version 11, and Band in a box 2004 don't seem to have a good
guitar sound. They all sound like a piano trying to sound like
a guitar. I was hoping someone might know of a way to get a
good guitar sound without actually having to play the guitar
into the computer to achieve this. I have winXP. Any help I
can get would really be appreciated.
Thanks,
George Ports
