Actually - and while it doesn't help at all, I recall this playback problem was a 2002 bug - that is that tenuto markings played back in a sort of odd staccato.

I don't recall any decently consistent workaround, only that the behavior problem was alleviated in 2003.

Or does my memory really fail me?

Subject: [Finale] Problems with playback of tenuto marks

[Finale 2002]

I am having problems using the tenuto articulation (line above/below a
note-head) when applied to repeated notes. The default playback is 'change
of duration' set to 105%. This works fine when the notes vary, but used on
a repeated note, the playback is bizarre. The first note works okay, but
subsequent notes are shortened, including the first note following the
tenuti without the sign. I have attempted to fix this by increasing the
duration, which makes some notes better but some worse.

Does anyone know a playback combination that will work on repeated notes?
At the moment I have decided the best option is to create a copy with no
playback effect.

Regards,
Michael Lawlor
