Now that is interesting! How did you do that?

my tinnitus is far less obtrusive than it was in the
past, and some tinnitus sufferers manage to escape it entirely
(after years of care).
a change of working environment did most of it, i used to work on an
LCIII and other kinds of airplanes, er macs. at one point i bought a
new computer which was considerably less noisy than the previous, and
a high-quality monitor (sony GPD-400 i think) with AGP (aperture
grill pitch) instead of dot-pitch. i also bought long cables and
enclosed everything in the closet except the monitor and keyboard.
the noise level went down considerably, and when i turned everything
on for the 1st time with the new setup, i could PHYSICALLY notice the
difference, i could actually immediately feel that it was healthier.
i can't back this up with any scientific data, but the waves you are
exposed to in front of the computer for hours on end contribute to a
number of problems, ringing in the ears because of the whining of the
various HD componenets (even if they are outside your hearing range,
they have a physical effect on you); better monitors lead to less
fatigue, more short breaks to stretch lessen the tightenining in your
musceles, etc. etc. etc.
stress, tensions, fatigue all heighten tinnitus. i had to give up
stress as much as possible because there was no way i was giving up
other things that contribute significantly - coffee and alcohol.
i also spend less time in, or avoid altogether, places that i feel
will aggravate it.
exercise and diet can make noticeable changes in tinnitus, although
excessively strenuous activities can cause temporary rises (when the
strenuous activity is related to healthy physical activities i am
sure the balance is favourable in the end). there are lots of
resources online if you are interested further.
