I've never understood that. Piano decays so quickly that I don't hear 
harmonies clearly -- I much prefer sustaining sounds and just use the 
"real" instruments. I find it much easier to find mistakes that way.

I hardly ever get notes wrong, but when I do, it's usually not going 
to be the kind of error that is audible, as it's often going to be a 
third off, which about 1/3 of the time is going fit with the harmony.

The main thing I have problems with is catching enharmonics. The only 
way I've found to find those is to actually *play* the part, and then 
the enharmonics scream out at me.
