Trying to make Finale play the chord symbols entered in a score, Finale plays them higher than the normal range of a "left hand", even over a melody written in treble key.

Is there no way to tell Finale to play them an octave lower or so?

You are in for a big job. You will have to redefine playback for each chord type that you are using, and for each scale degree.

A quick and dirty solution would be to tell your piano module (if you have one!) to play an octave lower, but then it will play an octave lower for EVERYTHING it is playing, which is probably not what you want.

Finale is VERY stupid when it comes to chord playback, which is one of the things that the MIBAC Rhythm Section Generator plugin tries to correct. This plugin creates a more-or-less idomatic piano (and bass and drums and guitar!) part based on the chord symbol. You run it, it creates new staves for playback only (you can't read them unless you are better than I am!) and you mute the original piano staff. You can even hide the playback staves for printing purposes.
