It might be useful here to note that, in German, a single term,
"Wissenschaft", covers two terms in "science" and "scholarship" that
have become somewhat distinct in meaning.
(In another context, I consulted with an intellectual property lawyer
here in Frankfurt who made it clear to me that no distinction was drawn
in German law between the products of what might be styled humanistic
and scientific _Wissenschaft_).
