You can't. You will have to use invisible rests and beam those. And
use cross staffing (see manual).
I had no trouble doing it, as long as it is only eighth notes. Put
the cursor on the REST, not the second note, to create a beam over a
rest (your language might not have been clear enough, Johannes.) Then
hide the rest. Cross staff notes in Note Mover will bring the middle
note up from the bass staff.
I highly recommend Robert Patterson's Beam Over Barline as well.
Under the Plugin menu, Note Beam and Rest editing, you have a version
of Patterson Plugins Lite that came with 2007 that might do the trick.
