except that this doesn't account for the different techniques of rubbing (continuous sound) and tremolo (reiteration).
Certainly a violin's fortissimo would drown out anything the sandblocks could produce.
depends on the register, extreme high vlns wouldn't drown out tenor or bass sandpaper.. but violin section might do it for sure regardless of register...
