I had the same problem, and like Dennis suggests, copying "synthgms.sf2" from a previous installation of Finale into the Component files directory of Fin2007 solved the problem. What confused me was that I couldn't ever remember being given a choice to install this file or not. Was there a choice during the installation process?

I do not recall that question ever being asked.

Any gm soundfont can be renamed to that same name and placed in the Component Files folder and will work just fine.

And recent versions of Finale have allowed us to set playback to point to any soundfont we have on our computer without needing to rename it and copy it into the Component Files folder.
