Hi Christopher,
Always glad when I can return the favor and help you out... you are
such a great contributer to this list! :-)
I'm glad you found this article helpful. Don't mind that you
forwarded it at all. :-)
Thanks also for your in depth analysis of 2008...
<grumble and gripe>
I'm really not happy about having to order it... but I never know
which version a client will want me to use so I guess I'll have to.
Would you mind looking at something for me? A project I was working
on the last several days required that I use 2007 which I have hardly
used. (I'm still happiest in 2006... well, actually my favorite
version ever was 2002 coupled with the old quickeys... but I
digress...) I couldn't for the life of me find the "show only on
screen" in the text tool drop down menu. We use that all the time to
send notes to other orchestrators/copyists/proofreaders on a job when
there are questions or to send a heads up or whatever without risking
the text accidentally ending up in a printed part or score. With so
many of us working remotely these days it was incredibly useful.
Is this back in 2008? If it is, I might feel a least a little better
about having to buy it silly as that little feature is.
</grumble and gripe>
Thanks in advance Christopher and thanks again for the in depth
rundown! It was, as per your usual, both informative and entertaining!!
Best,
K
Try a Google search on "31 characters hex filename" I found this
for you when I did that search:

Karen,
As usual, you went far beyond the call of duty to help me out.
Thanks so much! I actually was able to understand this, and it
makes sense to me. I also forwarded it to the dudes and dudettes at
MakeMusic who are trying to track down the problem—I hope you don't
mind.
Regards,
Christopher
