I have never seen a PDF created on my Mac that didn't print correctly (except when printing from Windows 98), but I would suspect a font issue. For a while I had a font that displayed correctly but printed different characters!? Changing it to an OpenType font corrected all problems.

Character mayhem just started happening, and with any Finale file. However, it's happening with all fonts and is inconsistent. It seems to be occurring only after opening that one file, but then it happens with any file I try to print. Quitting and restarting Finale fixes it.

I've now realized that the character mayhem is entirely a Preview problem, not Finale, as the PDFs view fine in Acrobat and show up differently each time I open them in Preview.

However, the bizarre grayed-out symbols seem to be a separate issue...
