there may not be any MM rest depending on how you group the cadenza material in measures (eg. changing time sigs with hidden barlines -- which may not be appropriate stylisticly... although a variant of the following could still be helpful). group the cadenza in as small measures as possible (around 2/4 is good) for maximum flexibility in the system layout: NEVER group cadenzas in a single large measure, the layout needs will be different in score and solo part and this limits you too much. you will ultimately have much finer control over the look of the music in the cadenza than using a large measure with the split measure function, which is a VERY BAD solution, in my view.
if there are no barlines/time sigs (it sounds like it) you can also adjust the before/after extra space values in the measure atributes (eg. -25 EVPUs at the beginning of all measures) to and avoid "holes" and make the spacing look better. set all measures of the cadenza except the first to NOT be included in the measure numbering.
break all MM rests in all parts at the cadenza, set the measure widths to 25 EVPUs (or something, you'll have to experiment), make sure they are all grouped in the same system (you may have to adjust measure widths of other measures in the same system) and write Cadenza over it.
