Here is my guess. AIFF and WAV aren't that different. Just a header difference. AIFF created on OSX is now little-endian, which is the bite order Windows processes natively. The application you are using to playback might be falsely assuming AIFF is still big-endian. If your source AIFF is in fact little-endian, you should be able to replace .aif extension to .wav extension.
