I've never used linked parts or even Finale's old part extraction. In the kind of stuff I mostly do, those features require a lot of pre-planning to work, and I hate pre-planning around things that are supposed to make my life easier. I still keep separate copies of parts made by deleting the unused staves. So for me, special cases are easy.
