I think we ALL fight demons....and when the computer IMPEDES our workflow, man it REALLY stinks..
(my own biggest fear is sounding "dated"..it can cripple me for a while)

But when it strikes, I usually do one of the following-- basically something musically related--

1) Transcribe/tab a guitar piece
2) write a short section/piece just for fun, in the quickest/most efficient way I can
3) research something concerning music Im interested in..etc.

ANd as a FINAL measure, if none of the above work--

just chuck the whole [EMAIL PROTECTED] thing for awhile,...:)

PS-The suggestion to go Sibelius just might be the answer..

Hi Raymond--

Im so sorry to hear this--

when technology becomes counter-productive, its time to find a new way..

and Im sure we ALL have experienced holding the momentary flame of inspiration, only to have it lost, or become cool, by having to fight a bad program..

I wouldn't let Finale stop that piece of yours from being finished, and performed..

I really hope you find a way to get it done, Raymond..

Thanks
Peace, Bob Morabito

PS--hopefully someone on the list can help you get the old setup back...anyone?

Haven't received an Finale messages today, so wondered if I'd been unsubscribed or something.

OK:

I'm totally disheartened on Finale, After being oh, so productive for the last few years on WinFinale (several versions through 2006) with full GPO and GJBB (using GP Studio which I gather I wasn't supposed to be using anymore), I "upgraded" to Finale 2008 and NI2, and now nothing plays back at all. It even screwed up my old 2006/GPO setup so it won't work.

I could have finished a solo piece and played it next month with a local group, but I'd gotten so spoiled with the great setup I had, it's just no fun not hearing it as I go, and I haven't worked kept working on it.
