Thank you, David, that is a good reason. Now I won't have to fiddle with overlaying lines ( I was already thinking about a solution - sorry Robert!).
set staffline spacing to 18 EVPU, hide clef / time sig and place as expressions (18pt) and shape expressions. if there aren't too many changes of these it should work well. there may be a few other things to adjust, but it could be a workable solution to use abs. staffline thickness for "reduced" parts.
but it is not part of the main part to play, so as others have said, the stafflines should also be reduced.
