FWIW I misread the post. I thought we were talking about barline
thickness. Staff line thickness should be less for a %-reduced staff,
although whether it should always be tied to the percentage is open to
debate. It all goes back to how hand-engraving worked. For different
staff sizes they used different cutters, so naturally the staffline
thickness would vary. However, they used the same cutter for all
barlines in a given piece, so barline thickness should not vary.
