BTW I've been a FinMac user since v.1 in late '89 and have FinMac2k8. For my purposes, FinMac2k7a was the biggest drama in recent times but am using 2k7c and 2k8 without major problems and find the linked parts a significant time saver, even with its issues. I've found the consolidated selection tool in 2k8 an improvement, on the whole whole. Have dabbled with Sibelius in the past and haven't experimented with Sib5 yet but will do so in the near future. Like others I too am very concerned with MM and it's 'yearly upgrade/new features' strategy and would gladly pay for a 'bug fix' update but will not abandon Finale anytime soon. Most likely for me is that I'll get up to speed on Sibelius and use both apps depending on the project and use MusicXML/Dolet for interchangeability.
I continue to be amazed at what I can make Finale do on my ageing PPCG4 Mac and by comparison/reality check think back to the 'miracle' I witnessed at the 1984 ICMC (Computer Music Conf) in Paris at IRCAM when some researchers put up the first postscript (sonata font) rendering of one of Stockhausen's Klavierstucke.
