Johannes: I have the same printer (5000N) hooked up to my G5. If you have only 5000 pages used, you can be reassured that I have over 80,0000 on mine and the only thing I have replaced (beside the toner cartridge) is the Fuser unit last year ($250.00 USD). It still works like a champ. If you use the menu in the display on the printer, you can change the default settings for the resolution, and dozens of other variables. I am at my day gig now, so I can't walk you through it, but if you go to the HP site, I belive you can download (free) the pdf of the 5000 Series laserjet manual, which i did when I bought mine through e-bay 4 years ago ($700. USD). Highly advisable that you get the manual. HP will also send you the Drivers/HPJetDirect CD at no charge if you did not get it with the printer. Regarding Sys 9 OS network software: I had this same printer hooked up to my G4 until last year, and it worked fine with the SYS 9 software. it still works fine on 10.4.6 which is what i am using now.
Hope this helps. > Hi there. > > This is a little tan, however, I need some tips: > > I just acquired a Laserjet 5000 printer, and it is great.
