I'm working on a borrowed laptop with PageUp and PageDown keys, but
no dedicated Home/End keys, and it drives me crazy. I'd never buy a
laptop that doesn't have dedicated keys for these navigation
functions.

Not really in regard to the navigation keys, PageUp, PageDown, Home,
End, Right, Left, Up, Down. The difference is in the hardware support
-- many laptops double up on those to save space, and for people who
touch type and use the keyboard for navigation within documents, it's
a very, very bad thing. I'd never buy a laptop that didn't have
dedicated keys for all of those.
