FWIW, I found changing the tuplets to above in the choir parts went very smoothly and quickly with the Utilities>Change... Tuplets. One shot, very easy. I can't imagine a Staff Style being any easier than that.

I agree that it is not hard to change. Actually, it was even easier in the previous version where you could get to the tuplet settings with a control-click (right-click). I'm not sure why they took that away in 2008. I guess I'll have to make another macro...

That is still there in my FinMac2008a. Control-click (or right click on my multi-button mouse) brings up a contextual menu where I can either go right to the tuplet definition or just choose Placement>Above. I can also get to the settings by selecting the tuplet and hitting Return.

Plus, without even going to the contextual menu, selecting the tuplet and hitting control-F (Mac) flips it.

But for my vocal work I don't touch any of that stuff. I just change them all at the end of the process in one shot.

What changed in 2008? Some things I miss, but tuplet editing for me is easier, not harder, in 2008.

If you are on an old document, maybe "enhanced" is not checked in the Tuplet definition. That would prevent you from accessing some features. You can add the "enhanced" check box to all of your old tuplets in one shot with Utilities>Change... Tuplets again.

It is just that after writing 3 operas (among other things for voice) with dozens of scenes and a few hundred vocal parts, a guy gets to thinking that there could be an easier or faster way to do things.

Maybe Smart Tuplets? Whenever there is a lyric attached to any of the notes in the tuplet, it automatically gets "Above" placement? That's what I end up doing most of the time.

I'm still waiting for smarter music spacing when lyrics and/or chord symbols are involved, and smart repeat brackets. Yay for hyphen fixes!
