I tried this in my initial fumblings with no success--

what are the benefits of doing it this way, over using the IAC bus?
It sounds the same, except choosing a different input in DP--is that correct?

Thanks Bob

PS-Plus the method I outlined isn't really sequencer dependent--do many sequencers have their own InterApplication Midi port like DP? (I found this also works fine with Sib, although Sib does support all my AU's)

Thanks Hiro--this is all really new to me--

Finale only allows certain AU's for playback (Sib is MUCH better in
this regard)--so I sought a way to use a single instrument setup in
Dp (a V rack) as playback for both--
as I couldn't find this information anywhere, I thought Id post it here.

If you are using DP's V-Rack, you don't need IAC bus. You should use
DP's own Interapplication MIDI port, which Finale will see as the target
in its MIDI setup. Just engage Interapplication MIDI under Setup menu
in DP then launch Finale. Finle's MIDI setup will see DP.
