That was me. I have had mondo problems with importing old libraries and opening and editing old files in Finale 2007-2008.

I kept getting file corruption in different ways. Now, that MIGHT be because I had saved a library with some sort of corruption, or maybe it just contained a trigger to cause corruption in the target file, but I have given up importing old libraries because of it. I seem to get files corrupted more than other people. Maybe there is something screwy on my system, or maybe I am just jinxed.

So far, though, I have had luck with importing the old library into a fresh 2008 document and re-saving the library, then discarding the document. Fingers crossed!

In your case, keep the old files. Try importing the old libraries. If all goes well, then no problem. If there IS a problem, you can still try my library-laundering method on the original file.

Hello All,

I think I remember there being some talk on this list about using old
libraries with 2008 and corrupting files. Can anyone fill me in on the
particulars or if it is even true?

I need to upgrade a number of files and I have some libraries built in 2006
that I would like to apply.

Thanks,
Steve
