Not fast, they are fine for most players. You will get a gap between
successive pitches (in other words, legato is out of the question.)
The biggest problem I had, though, was getting the players to play
them FIFTH touch and not 4th touch, which gave the wrong note. It
appears that among the free-lancers I usually write for, they see 97%
4th touch, and only rarely other types.
Tobias' plugin adds the sounding pitch, which helps.
