In this case, I do want the slide, but my previous impression was
similar to Chris's -- a string of connected artificial harmonics is
very difficult to pull off, even if the positions are fairly close
together. It's good to know it *can* be done, though!

Not sure why you would say that, Christopher. If legato connection
is required, the left hand can slide up the string very quickly, and
the slide can be covered by the bowing if you don't want it. (In
some cases you might possibly want to hear the slide.) It ain't
rocket science!
