I have copied over entire orchestra scores in one shot, and inserted
measures into giant scores before with no ill effects (or even much
of a delay!), so I doubt it is cache size that is the problem. I had
suspected file addressing (Finale in the Mac version does NOT use the
OSX filenaming protocols, so problems can come up with filenames
longer than 32 characters (including the extension)) but that wasn't
the case here with my short filename.
As I said, I suspect this is file corruption causing the problems
(this bites me all the time) but I wanted to know what might have
been CAUSING the corruption. I am suspecting certain of my libraries,
for example, from Finale 2006 and 2007 that I load in once in a while.
Copying the contents of the file to a new file filtered out the
problem and I was able to insert in the new fie with no problems, but
that is a huge pain since not everything copies over.

FinMac 2008b.
I have a file of 90 measures I created in 2008b (so no old file
issues possible here!) that I need to add 9 measures to at the
beginning.
When I select the first bar with the Selection Tool (same if I choose
bar 2) then choose Insert Measure Stack, it crashes Finale. The
behaviour is consistent even after rebooting. The first few lines of
the crash log is appended. This doesn't happen in other files.
I didn't have time to sort it out, so I just copied the contents to a
new file nine measures later and fixed the layout and barlines and
all the small stuff that didn't copy over. But I would like to know
what happened. I also wrote in to tech support, but I have had little
joy from them recently, whereas I can usually find someone here on
the list who knows what is up.
I suspect file corruption, but the way I would find it (try to insert
measures at bar 50, if it works, try again at bar 75, if it doesn't
work try at bar 25, keep jumping halfway until I locate the bad
measures then clear them, delete them, re-insert them, re-enter the
contents) is too time-consuming for now.
Any clues?
