Hello,

I am seeking wisdom from any in the group about the most painless way to move Mac ppc to Mac intel with regards to GPO. I've got a MacBook replacing a G4 PB. I did the standard Apple "migration," and am working my way through my applications, handling transfer of authorizations as I go.

Complicating this is the move from PPC (10.4.11) to Intel (10.5.4). I will also be upgrading to FinMac 2008 (that's easy, as it will be a fresh install). I've got it all mostly worked out, but have not yet tried to tackle GPO. I have the full version of GPO, not just the Finale-provided one. And I previously, on the old computer, upgraded to the intel-ready Kontakt 2 player (surprisingly painless, and a huge improvement).

I used migration to bring over all my applications. I know I will have to deauthorize/reauthorize Finale 2007 and earlier. I'm not sure which earlier ones will run OK. Can any of you long-time Mac current Mac Intel users comment on successes or problems? I remember also someone (Robert P?) mentioning using Sheepsaver. Will that work for the older classic versions of Finale?

About the full GPO -- if anyone has done this successfully, could you recommend some steps? What first? Can I work with what Apple Migration brought over? Or should I reinstall the program from the original disks, then deal with authorizations through the website? Then update to Kontakt 2? Any advice about the deauthorization/ reauthorization process?

This whole thing makes me really appreciate my iLok!

Thanks in advance,

David Froom
