Good news for you and other Mac users (not so good for Windows.)
Finale uses whatever your system says your default browser is. You
can set your default browser to whatever you want from inside Safari
(yeah, I know!) Just open Safari, go to Preferences, and the first
item is Default Browser. Select Firefox and go ahead and quit Safari,
and the next time you access the Finale Help, it will open in Firefox.
Are you using two monitors? Moving palettes around when you first
open Finale will cause all kinds of problems at first. Open Finale,
quit, then reopen and see if things are more stable. If not, trash
prefs, then reopen, quit, then reopen. This helps for me.

just getting started with finale 2008 things that i had never used
before. so i don't have much to say about the documentation, but
one thing stands out IMMEDIATELY.
it is absolutely unacceptable to force users to use IE on windows
and safari on mac. many people use other browsers and today it is
irresponsible to code only for one specific browser per platform
(which i assume is the reason for this approach). there are
relatively simple scripts that any professional web designer knows
of to detect browsers and display content accordingly.
i abandoned safari earlier this year because it is really slow and
lacks too much functionality that i can get directly or with add-
ons in firefox.
i know of no other programme that does not respect the user's own
system-wide settings for default browser and other programmes.
IE in particular has for years ignored many www standards that most
other browsers have agreed to follow.
