Yeah, I did the same thing. Once. Unfortunately, Finale was telling me that one of my symbol fonts was missing, one that I had used for arrows, but since it didn't tell me which font it was (the quote marks were empty) I ended up with huge letter B's all through my piece where the arrows used to be, and since I had used Times in many places, I couldn't use the Swap Fonts command without screwing up every expression in the document.

Fortunately, I had used the progressive save method (file001.mus, then next save file002.mus, etc.) so I was able to revert painlessly.

And I don't know if other people have this problem, but on my Mac I haven't been able to use Check Document Fonts Against System Fonts for several versions now, and across three different computers. It finishes its process with no message, even though I KNOW there are some fonts in the document that don't exist on my system.

I just saw this problem for the first time on Saturday. I was working with getting the November font which I had just purchased integrated into my templates and files. I was wondering if the files and libraries with November were just created with older versions of Finale.

Anyway, when the dialog popped up, I just did a "replace font with..." and set it for Times. I don't think I had the problem anymore after telling it to swap the fonts.

I'd run the data integrity checks. In my version of Finale these are
on the OPTIONS | DATA CHECK menu. Checking the file integrity and the
document fonts against system fonts seem like the most obvious
choices. But you may have different choices (and on a different menu)
in a later version of Finale.

But that's where I'd start.

In Fin2k9b, go to Document-->Data Check-->File Maintenance. Do the full treatment. Then, run Document-->Data Check-->Font Utilites. Check "Check Document Fonts Against System Fonts" and click OK. Fix any remaining font things that come up. For those with 2k9 initial release or earlier, we merged all the font related options in the Data Check sub-menu (and added a couple of new ones) into the new Font Utilities dialog for 2k9b.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. This file just won't lose the error message even after those procedures. I'll probably have to junk this file.
