Dear David,
Thanks for the Windows information. I have so little experience with
that OS that I was narrowly focussed on my own computer world and lost
sight of the possibility of that kind of difference in the way the
systems process and store things. Besides that, my "knowledge" comes
only form what I infer about how these things work - from the outside,
not from programming experience like yours, so that too limits the
usefulness of my suggestions. Anyway, missed on that one. Thanks
again.
Chuck
You may not have been far off the mark Chuck and David - Makemusic's
suggestions:
Please try resetting your Finale preferences using the steps below.
1. Close Finale.
2. Click your Windows Start Orb and choose Computer in the Start Menu.
3. Navigate to your Finale 2010 program folder (usually in C:\Program
Files\Finale 2010).
4. In your Finale 2010 folder, you will be deleting two files that
will be labeled "Configuration Settings" as their file type. Find and
delete these two files in this folder:
Finale.ini
Finmidi.ini file.
5. Now navigate to
C:\Users\<your_account>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Finale 2010.*
(* = this is a hidden folder. To show hidden files and folders, go
into Explorer's Organize Menu, Folder and Search Options, the View
tab, and "Show hidden files and folders.")
6. Find and delete the Finale.ini and Finmidi.ini files in this folder as well.
7. Empty your trash.
8. Restart your computer.
9. Relaunch Finale 2010.
... in practice I was too impatient to wait for this advice and did a
full reinstall and all is well - next time i will try the above.
Cheers
Rod
PS - I'm on Finale Daily Digest - sorry for slow response!
