This is what I call "voodoo troubleshooting." Deleting a text file is just silly. It can't be corrupt, but it could have settings in it that are causing a problem. The answer is not to DELETE it but to move it elsewhere. If it fixes the problem, you can then copy the settings back from the original file. Deleting it entirely (especially the bit about emptying the recycle bin) is complete overkill, and means you have to recreate your old settings, just to get rid of one problematic configuration setting. My understanding was that on the Mac the preferences were as binary file, and thus, not susceptible to being edited in part. Maybe I'm wrong on that? This kind of advice is easy for MakeMusic to give, as it may solve the problem (assuming it's caused by a setting on one of the INI files). But it's certainly user-hostile, as it means recreating all your personalized settings. -- David W.
