Ok, that was interesting:

I deleted the eight measures that had the underline in them, and printed the document again. When I printed the document, the line was still there (just under the lyrics of the eight measures that were moved up to take the place of those I had just deleted).

I loaded the original file and created a ~.ps file. I dragged that into my word processor (Pages on the Mac) and got a 300+ page of printer instructions that I'm overwhelmed by. It's a repeating general pattern of pages where we have about ten pages of stuff like this:

***********************
%!PS-Adobe-2.0
%%Title: Friday Night Zikr Viola.mus
%%Creator: Finale 2007
%%CreationDate: (12/4/09) (8:29 AM)
%%Pages: 2
%%DocumentFonts: (atend)
%%EndComments
%%BeginProlog
/FinaleDict 100 dict def
FinaleDict begin
/finPSvers (3.8.2) def
/bdf{bind def}bind def
/ldf{load def}bdf
/m/moveto ldf
/L/lineto ldf
/t/show ldf
/C/curveto ldf
/gs/gsave ldf
*************************
Followed by 30 or so pages of stuff like this:
**************************
8A10F4835E26BA827FD2A9C8EFFD2C327C3949FD7C3AA55AFA19124FD7E02669902D18A14B2641139B33273C6BC193BCAA33AB6A6E805FBE6499331681A0D2BF5BE5A6A4C785408CFF4ACD345FD67EA053023602E1316CA9EABE1C4A91D14089768D19EBAF62EB25064AFB05CE9AD44B962D2CFB398C77F144FC6699486116C35D0419858CCB10036A2528E3A38E64A3C7B2102894D7FFCEDDD60077E68296FDAAC6A194B8A311C0A97AEAA6862F6BB5F6C326CF3E527BFF48F608D7AC02A76E6
**************************
Those two different kinds of patters repeat a bunch of times till we get to the end of the 320 or so pages.

I know some of you could make sense of what was going on there, but honestly, I don't think I have the skills to understand an explanation, much less try solutions at this level.

However, when I double click on the post script file, it is opened by the Mac app "Preview". And sure enough, the line is there.

So it looks like I've imbedded some character that draws a line at that point. Best solution is probably to re create the file.

I don't have time (as I just said in a previous post) to redo the whole file today, but I'm convinced that it's the only way that I'll get a clean print.

Thanks all for your time.
