i am in the midst of doing the parts for an orchestral work and suddenly certain operations are excessively slow in this particular document.
i ran TGTools explode parts on several instruments and response to clearing some measures (selection tool) is now up to 30 secs, but sometimes (not often) it is immediate, as i am used to seeing. when using the special tools to change stem length or accidentals i have clocked up to 30 seconds for the handles to appear after clicking in the measure and doing a select all (one acci in the measure) and hitting enter takes another 20s or so to call up the dialogue box. even without calling up the dialogue, just clicking in the measure again causes the hang. it hasn't yet crashed while doing this, but this seriously worries me.
i have rebooted the computer and checked on the last backup of this file, and there the speed is exactly as i would expect.
i ran file maintenance and i'm told it deleted 596 frames, 75852 entries and 194 smart shape assignments. i have noticed recently taht in some cases when copying to another staff, 2 copies of the hairpins are made...
the file integrity message (this file may be missing a few notes or rests) came up with mostly nothing, but listed "55 orphaned entry details" and "446 orphaned note details". i could select the text in the file integrity box but copying deletes the text and there is nothing to paste when i try to paste to a text docu (or email).
and in any case, after running the file maintenance i don't notice a difference in the speed.
what might be causing this? the file is only slightly larger than before, 2.2 instead of 2MB.
