Hi Folks,

First, I'd just like to say that I've been lurking for sometime, and
learning lots. I'm very glad this forum exists, and that everyone here is so
civil and smart.

Here's my question. I upgraded from Finale 2002 to 2010. I never seem to
remember having any problem creating a piano score, and optimizing in order
to remove empty staves.it was always something I took for granted. Now,
choosing to optimize has absolutely no effect on the score, and I can't
figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I use the setup wizard to create a piano score (create new
ensemble>keyboard>piano>add), write my masterpiece, then simply go into
Staff System Optimization as I've always done. "Remove empty staves", and
"Keep at least one staff" is selected , as is "All systems of current
part/score". Nothing happens. I"ve played with choices in the staff and
group attributes windows, with no luck. As an experiment, I created my own
grand staff, bypassing the wizard, with the same outcome. Does anyone have
any idea what's going on?

Best,

Art Bailey
