Finale 2003 on a PC
I haven't seen those random clefs pop up in several years - 2002 or 2003
was about the time I remember, and I see you are using 2003. I thought,
at the time, that I may have, on occasion, been sloppy with the mouse in
copying cues and gotten too much of the destination staff with the
mouse. Whatever the reason, the problem went away, for me, in
subsequent versions.
I remember, back in 2003, my horror, the night before a first rehearsal
when I saw that in a set of parts I had already delivered to an
orchestra was a bar for the piccolo - in bass clef! When I got to
rehearsal the next morning the player had already penciled the right
clef and notes in - she was very nice about it but I gave her new part
anyway.
