Linked parts are the way to go, no doubt about it. The amount of time saved is
frightening compared to the old methods (every time I have to go back to an old
file with extracted parts I cringe).

With a little skill and plain thinking 'out of the box' you can become really
wily at getting things to look good in both score and part environments. I Have
found the best method is to set up your templates to accommodate the process
and not to try to fight it by using older methods as the 'norm' and then
getting all frustrated when they won't come out as you want. You won't get a
square peg in a round hole as so many people try to do. And keep it simple,
linked parts are there as a feature not a necessity.

You have to adapt a little if you want to include two parts on a stave in the
score and have them show in separate parts , grace notes can be a pig and cue
notes take a real amount of cunning! But the pay-off is huge. And layouts can
be different for each part(s). I sometimes have A4 and A5 (reduced %) all in
the same score.

Good luck with the learning curve, read the section in the manual 2 or 3 times
and keep an open mind. After that it is downhill all the way!
