Hi Ryan, Here's my set up that's works well for any two parts on one stave.
In Document Options select Layers. Layer 1 check ONLY these items: Freeze stems & ties (Freeze stems up) Freeze ties in same direction as stems Adjust floating rests by 6 steps Apply adjustments only if notes are in other layers Ignore layers containing only hidden notes playback Affects music spacing Layer 1 check ONLY these items: Freeze stems & ties (Freeze stems down) Freeze ties in same direction as stems Adjust floating rests by -6 steps Apply adjustments only if notes are in other layers Ignore layers containing only hidden notes playback Affects music spacing Document - Manage Parts… Select (or create) your layer 1 part concerned - Check Specify Voicing and click on edit voicing. Voicing settings for layer 1 part check ONLY: Selected notes from one or more layer(s) Top note Count notes - from the top In measures containing multiple layers, display layer 1 Document - Manage Parts… Select (or create) your layer 2 part concerned - Check Specify Voicing and click on edit voicing. Voicing settings for layer 2 part check ONLY: Selected notes from one or more layer(s) Bottom note Count notes - from the top In measures containing multiple layers, display layer 2 The amount of floating rests adjustment is as your preference, I find 6 and -6 steps work well except when the parts go into extreme ranges on the stave, but then there is always something that needs tweaking in multiple parts on a stave Of course none of this will work automatically if you have stems flipped manually, perhaps run a quick fix all firstly by selecting Utilities Menu - Stem Direction - Use Default Direction. This should put everything back to default. Hope this helps, Jonathan On 17 Nov 2011, at 19:00, <[email protected]> <[email protected]> wrote: > Trying to solve a mystery with linked parts with voices. > A part voicing is specified to show Layer 2 when more than one layer is > present.
