that is just silly. i always used TGTools for splitting / combining systems but it wazùs doing weird things sometimes to the staff groups in 2010 and i don't dare try these araeas of the PI because of the major changes in staff groups and optimization between 2010 / 2012. the thing is that it doesn't completely undo the optimization, it retains some of the optimized staves but resets the inter-staff distance on those visible. and it is not all subsequent systems that are affected, for example if i only insert one system, only the last one in the piece is affected, and only the . >Margins depend on "Page Format For Score" -- if >you've made changes without updating, then new >systems inherit the old settings. this i understand but it is quite stupid there is no way for it to inherit the previous or following system, or that this cannot be done immediately after insertion natively for it to work as easily as TGTools layout / staff list manager (copy optimization) allowed. >The new "Hide Empty Staff Systems" command is >better than optimization because it won't >inadvertently hide staves containing music, but >it still needs to be manually re-applied if the >layout changes. i really like the new optimization (hide staves, not the staff style) and would take a moment to commend the finale team on finally upgrading something that should have been much easier to do many years ago, but the fact that the layout functionality wasn't also updated means they don't deserve it. it is just idiotic that system layout still cannot be bound to measure regions. i suppose this is just another one of those things in finale, "if it ai broke, don't fix it, the functionality will eventually be replaced by a new and just as disfunctional feature." great! can't wait! _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
