Hi John,

If the problem is merely that laptop isn't registering that the second display 
has been unplugged, then yes, that can work. But it won't solve the problem if 
(for instance) the second display was a higher resolution than the main 
display, and the Edit Margins dialog boxes were positioned at the far left or 
bottom of the screen. 

The main bug here is that Finale's Edit Margins dialog boxes aren't resolution 
aware, Finale doesn't check to see if the dialog boxes are visible to the user, 
and if they are offscreen and find yourself away from your second display, 
deleting preferences is the only way to get them back.
